General:
There's an element of surmise in all this, but a plausible story goe s like this. In 1911 Rose Ashford was working in Sidmouth, Devon a s a servant to Mary Macdonald who was originally from Northumbria. I n 1918 someone named Rose Ashford married in Northumbria. If Mary Macd onald moved back to Northumbria from Sidmouth it's possible her servan t went with her. That would put Rose Ashford in the right place for t he marriage. Rose Ashford married a guy called John Everitt, whic h is a fairly unusual surname. When we look at the 1940 marriage reco rd for Reginald Driver he is shown as marrying two people - Rose Ashfo rd and Rose Everitt. I suspect both these Roses are the same person a nd the record shows both her maiden name (Ashford) and her name fro m a previous marriage (Everitt). Then again it could be a load o f twaddle.....
