After Mary Ann was widowed in 1 882 her two children, William and Phebe, were brought up by her parent s (they both appear in the 1891 census as the son and daughter of Amo s and Eliza Aplin). By 1891 Mary Ann had became a cook at a hotel i n Lyme Regis.
