There's a grave inscription in the collegiate church at Kilmallock tha t reads as follows:
Sacred to the memory of Francis Hawthorne who departed this life 17t h Feb 1873 aged 71 years. A devoted wife and loving children erected t his memorial as a small tribute of respect. His brother Michael Hawtho rne departed this life Octr 12th. 1866 aged 52 years. Requiescent in p ace, Amen.
