Rod Bovendorp Shipley

Unearthing my Past

My name's Rod-Reinier Shipley and I've been tracing my family's genealogy for more than twenty years now, discovering everything from the trivial to the bizarre about my ancestors and my family's ancestors. Over the years I've discovered, among a myriad of strange things, that I'm a descendant of coastguards who were related to smugglers, flying Dutchmen who emigrated to Java in the Dutch East Indies, felonious fathers whose sons have taken holy orders and a baker who died after eating one of his own pasties. I've discovered I have kin living all over the United Kingdom, in Australia, in New Zealand, in the United States, in Canada, in The Netherlands and in Indonesia. Over the years my family network has grown, the more so since I took a DNA test, and there are currently over four thousand people listed in my personal tree, plus over two thousand more in the tree I've researched for my wife, Linda Fox Shipley. As a result more and more people are asking me if I will share my 'Shipley' information with them and of course I'm always happy to say 'yes'. I've created this website as a resource for anyone who thinks we may be related. If you can't find what you want here, please contact me through Ancestry or just send me an email and I'll be happy to try and help.
